Review: Ki & Ka music is satisfactory

Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor in Ki & Ka

Another hit song like High Heels would have made a huge difference to the album's fortunes, feels Aelina Kapoor.

Director R Balki opts for younger music directors for his new film Ki & Ka, instead of his favourite Ilayaraja.

Meet Bros, Jaz Dhami, Aditi Singh Sharma and Yo Yo Honey Singh make an impact right at the start of the soundtrack when they come together with Kumaar for the club hit High Heels.

It helps that the song is already popular. With Kareena Kapoor Khan and Arjun Kapoor coming together on screen for the first time for this song, the results may be explosive.

The impact gets diluted big time when Mithoon composes and sings Ji Huzoori, written by Sayeed Quadri. Not that this sad song isn't good but it pulls down the good start of the soundtrack.

Meet Bros and Kumaar's Most Wanted Munda is the right follow up to High Heels.

The team brings the Punjabi flavour back, and enhances the celebratory mood once again. Earl Edgar contributes with a rap.

Kareena gets her own love song, Foolishq. Ilayaraja steps in as guest composer, along with Amitabh Bhattacharya, and create a good song. Shreya Ghoshal sings with conviction, even as Armaan Malik plays a supporting role.

The album concludes with Pump It (The Workout Song) and the lyrics make it very funny. Newcomer Yash Narvekar comes on board here and does a decent job. But it doesn't have much recollection value.

Though the soundtrack of Ki & Ka is satisfactory, another hit song like High Heels would have made a huge difference to the album's fortunes.
